FAITH VS. FEAR
by Helen Moore
FAITH IS ACTION! You do what you believe. In Hebrews 11:1, we read, "Now FAITH is the substance (or the confident assurance) of things hoped for (something we want is going to happen) the evidence of things not seen."
Fear challenges God’s promises. In 2 Timothy 1:7, it says, "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." God’s gifts are good gifts. Satan operates in the realm of the natural with the five senses of seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, and tasting. FAITH operates in the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance, found in Galatians 6:22,23.
Fear is Satan’s destructive power. FAITH is God’s creative power. Fear is the substance of things NOT desired. Faith is the substance of things HOPED for. When you fear you allow it to short-circuit your faith. Deuteronomy 30:19,20 says, "I call heaven and earth to record (witness) this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing, and cursing, therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed (children, grandchildren, etc.) may live." "That thou may love the Lord thy God, and that thou may obey His voice, and that thou may cleave unto Him: for He is thy life, and the length of thy days."
What key do you use? The faith key won’t fit in a fear ignition, and the fear key won’t fit in a faith ignition. Ephesians 6:16 says, "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." Fear challenges your faith. To please God you have to operate in faith.
Faith is backed up by the Holy Spirit. Fear is backed up by a demon spirit. Faith enables God to work in your life; fear enables Satan to work in your life. What will you choose? Love or hate; peace or anxiety; prosperity or poverty?
In 2 Corinthians 5:21 we read, "For He hath made Him to be sin for us, (God took the sinless Christ and poured into Him our sins) who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God (in exchange He poured God’s righteousness into us) in Him." Jesus made a choice for our sake. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we read, "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might be rich."
What our eyes see, our ears hear, our mouth speaks is what we put down in our heart. Your heart condition confirms your harvest condition. Have you settled it in your eyes, your ears, your mouth and your heart to live by FAITH and choose life; or have you chosen fear and death? When you don’t make a choice you have already made a choice. Your choice is important and no one can make it for you. Choose to live by faith, and not fear.
